Here's a list of my all-time favorite fics, links included of course. Most of them are UC, some CC, all of them are amazing. If you're looking for a good read you should most definitely find something here because there's a bit of everything.
C R O S S O V E R :
A New Start by LittleBit (DA xover, Alec/Liz, complete)
I wasn’t going to put any Xtremer fics in my list of recommendations because I’m planning to launch a whole site
dedicated to Alec and Liz, but I just had to mention this one. A new Start was the first xtremer fic ever and I
love it to pieces. It’s one of those fics you can read over and over again – and trust me, I have. Set in Seattle,
post Changes, Liz is just the right mixture of kick-ass babe and sweet Roswell-Liz. And Alec...don’t get me
started!
Crushes by DMartinez (Smallville xover, Clark/Liz, Lex/Liz, Max/Liz, WIP)
DMartinez is one of the most brilliant authors out there, she can write anything, be it cc, uc, slash or crossovers,
and pull it off. I mean, really pull it off. I love how realistic her characters are and how she allows
them and their relationships to be flawed to a level that is almost beyond realistic. DMartinez does a wonderful
job at mixing the two alien-mythologies and I’ve never read a better Lex. A must-read.
U C F I C S :
Kiss by DMartinez (Sean/Liz, complete)
There aren’t a lot of Laneslider fics out there, but even if there were, this fic would probably still be
untopable. DMartinez does an amazing job showing how the relationship between Liz and Sean develops as well as
the aftermath of Max and Liz’s relationship and the effect of the latter on the first. Nothing is perfect in this
universe, but that’s probably what makes the fic so perfect. Maria is quite a bitch btw, probably the reason why I
think that this is the best portrayal of her character that ever appeared in fanfiction. A must for every
Sean-fan.
Visions of my Past by Melanie (Kyle/Liz, complete)
Another fic I’ve read more than once, partly due to the lack of other good Loyalist fics, partly because it’s
simply brilliant. This fic mingles present and future very cleverly in a what-might-have-been fashion. It has a
nice sci-fi background and most importantly, the possibility to set it all right. One of my favorite S1 Kyle
portrayals because it shows him just the way I see him: sweet, charming, loyal and funny.
Don’t Believe Everything You’ve Heard by LittleBit (Liz/Khivar, complete)
There are a lot more of LittleBit’s fics that I could recommend, not sure why I chose this one, probably because
I love her Khivar so much. Who the bad guy is always depends on your perspective, so how do things look from the
other side? Great past-lives storyline, great OCs (especially Kat, lol), great story, great everything. Once
again, a must-read.
Memory of her by Peachykin (Michael/Liz, complete)
Peachy is without a doubt the goddess of polar fics and while I can recommend all her fics, I chose this one for my
list because it was the one that sucked me into the polar universe. Memory of her is epic, and I loved every minute
of it. Nobody has a more secure grasp on the characters of Michael and Liz, and nobody makes me love them together
more than Peachy does. If you can’t stand Max and Maria being bashed, this is for you, they’re treated rather
nicely, especially Maria. She’s not in the story much, but the time she’s in it she’s very DeLuca and very likeable,
as un-combinable as that may sound (at least to me). If there’s one polar story every Michael/Liz fan should read,
this is it.
Double Negatives by Lauren and JadaLyn (Michael/Liz, WIP)
I feel kind of bad recommending a story that’s been MIA for about a decade now, but this fic is just *so* good,
reading the existing ten parts is worth the torment of not knowing how it will go on. An action-packed plot that
combines a present and a future storyline in a very clever way. This fic leaves you literally aching for more,
even while you’re in the midst of reading it.
Point of Origin by PolarMafiaAssoc (Michael/Liz, complete)
When reading this story it’s not hard to tell that the crème de la crème of polar writers got together to create
this masterpiece. This story features some of the most brilliant character portrayals I have ever read in
fanfiction, all the characters are spot on without leaning too much in one direction or the other. An amazing
storyline that once again offers the opportunity to set it all right, lots of humor, lots of angst, and most
importantly, they fit Alec into the story! A must-must read.
Here Without You by Dimensia (Michael/Liz, WIP)
A brilliant POV fic that shows life on the road the way it would have really been. One of the most intense
first parts I have ever read and the future parts don’t disappoint either. A layered story with more going on
behind the scenes than you would have ever imagined. The story has wonderful character portrayals and one of my
favorite Isabel portrayals, which is saying a lot since I normally don’t like her that much, and most importantly, a wonderful
polar love story.
Bonds Unbroken by Jinni (Michael/Liz, complete)
This has to be one of the most original fics I have ever read. The idea behind the story is simply brilliant and
the way said idea is transformed into a story is even better. Lots of hot nookie, a beautiful budding relationship
between Michael and Liz and wonderfully unlikable (if not down-right horrible) portrayals of Max and Maria. Best
of all, the plot twist at the end of the story. You never see it coming.
Shaken Not Stirred by 2x4 (Michael/Liz, complete)
A short story, or maybe I should call it a one-parter since it’s not all that short. Very smutty, with wonderful
polar banter and just the right degree of a love/hate/lust relationship between Michael and Liz. Of course, no
story where a smirking Michael orders Liz to strip can be bad. Despite this being a short story, Robyn took the
time to establish a wonderful background plot, one of my favorite aspects of this fic.
Sunset Boulevard by irish2002 (Michael/Liz, complete)
Another short story. irish2002 has the rare talent of creating scenes and moods so vivid, you feel like you’re right
smack in the middle of it all. The best narration I have ever read in any kind of fic with a Michael/Liz plot
that leaves you begging for more. This is the kind of fic you want to heap praise and awards on because you could
never write something even half as brilliantly yourself. Perfect if you’re looking for a short fic to get lost
in.

The Denial Game by Evelynn (Max/Liz, AU with aliens, WIP)
I am anything but a CC fan, but I still keep up with this story religiously, which says it all. I actually like
Evelynn’s Max more than her Liz, which is rather amazing since I normally can’t stand Max. If there’s one word I
would use to describe this story (apart from brilliant), it would be layered. There is more going on behind the
scenes than you could ever even begin to fathom and with every question answered, a new bomb is dropped. Nothing is
what it seems to be so the surprises never end. Angsty to a degree that’s almost physically painful, but a few
wonderfully warm Max/Liz scenes make up for all of that. Heart-breakingly beautiful, a must-read for every CC
fan.
Go Ask Elizabeth by Ashley (Max/Liz, AU without aliens, complete)
Keep the tissues ready, this is one of the few fics that literally had me crying. Liz is so soft and sweet, you
can’t help but love her, Max is anything but, but that doesn’t make you love him any less. Wonderfully vivid and
absolutely unique characters make this fic come to life while reading it. The ending is the saddest I have
ever read in fanfiction, but I loved Ashley for taking the difficult path and not ending the story with a happy
ending and for allowing the characters to remain flawed, and therefore more perfect than if they had actually
ended up being perfect.
Finding Yourself by Cookieman1234 (Max/Liz, CC, complete)
This is the only post-departure fic that ever really made me forgive (and love) Max again after the horror known
as S2. This fic makes up for everything that happened between HOM and Departure. I actually forgave Max before the
final (and biggest) plot twist intended to fix Max and Liz’s relationship was revealed, which is saying a lot.
There’s also lots and lots of wonderful Kyle and one of the best OCs ever to make an appearance in fanfiction. The
only thing I didn’t like was Tess being evil, but that’s just me. The above link stops at part 135,
